Nanango Shire will be merged with Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon Shires after the quadrennial local government elections in March 2008 to form the new South Burnett Regional Council.   South Burnett Regional Council Meetings Nanango Shire Council was merged into the South Burnett Regional Council (along with Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon Shire Councils) on 15 March 2008 at the quadrennial local government elections. The South Burnett Regional Council held its statutory post-election meeting on 4 April 2008. At this meeting, Council resolved to hold future meetings on a fortnightly basis from April-June 2008 according to the the schedule shown in the table below:
