Nanango Shire covers 1,735 sq. km, which is roughly
0.1% of the
total
area of Queensland.
However, our population represents 0.2% of the State's population.
Nanango Shire's three principal settlements are Nanango township,
Blackbutt-Benarkin and Maidenwell.
The Bunya Mountains (which are shared by Nanango Shire with Kingaroy and
Wambo Shire Councils) have a
small resident population but can swell up to several thousand people
during
peak tourism periods.
